ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This writ petition purportedly in public interest is directed against the proposal to install a bus shelter in Thatchur Junction, Kallakurichi, Villupuram District. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. According to the petitioner, junction near which the bus shelter is proposed to be installed is an accident prone area and already 21 accidents have taken place at the said junction.

3. The accidents have on the face of the averments taken place before setting up of the bus shelter. There is not a whisper as to how the setting up of a bus shelter would lead to more accidents. The averments in the writ petition are not based on any kind of study.

4. This Court does not ordinarily interfere with proposals to set up bus shelters for the convenience of the general public. In the absence of any material showing any connection between the bus shelter and the accidents that might have taken place at the junction, we are not inclined to interfere with the proposal to set up a bus shelter.

5. The respondent authorities shall however consider posting policemen and taking other measures as they might deem appropriate to prevent accidents in the area.
