ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to process and issue an Indian passport to the petitioner based on her application in ARN No.24-1002295635 dated 17.02.2024 within the time limit as stipulated by this Hon'ble court and direct the 1st respondent to consider and dispose of the Petitioner's passport application by passing a reasoned order within time bound period.

2. Mrs.R.Durga Rani, learned Central Government Standing Counsel takes notice on behalf of the 1st & 2nd respondents. Mr.V.Meghanathan, learned Government Advocate takes notice on behalf of the 3rd respondent.

3. The petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 70 years. It is her case that she had applied for issuance of passport before the 2nd respondent vide application dated 17.02.2024, however, till date, no orders have been passed on the same. Hence, the petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.

4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 17.02.2024 and pass appropriate orders on the

same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned Central Government Standing Counsel as well as the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

6. In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 17.02.2024 seeking issuance passport and pass appropriate orders on the same in accordance with law within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
