Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 11.04.2018 seeking to provide necessary permission for conducting atleast one day panguni Uthiram Temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Udayarpalayam Taluk, Ariyalur District.

ORDER

This writ petition is filed seeking a mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the representation given by the petitioner to conduct one day Panguni Uthiram Temple festival in Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Udayarpalayam Taluk, Ariyalur District The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent submits that Panguni Uthiram festival has already been celebrated and there is no reason to entertain the representation of the petitioner in this regard. From the typed set of papers, it appears that there was dispute between two groups and a Peace Committee was constituted. In pursuant to the meeting held on 08.04.2018, the festival has been conducted.

In the light of above facts, nothing survives in this writ petition. Hence, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs. However, if any of the devotee intends to celebrate any festival and if it is accepted by the people of the village and conducive to celebrate such festival, it is always open to the Commissioner to accord sanction, based on prevailing factual situations. The dismissal of this writ petition shall not stand in the way of the Commissioner, Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Department to consider any such representation in future.
