O R D E R

The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to consider the proposal sent by the Principal Secretary/Transport Commissioner, Chennai, in its letter R.No.46345/T2/2016 dated 06.03.2017, expeditiously, so that the petitioner will be get his promotional benefits to the post of Joint Transport Commissioner.

2. The petitioner was appointed as Motor Vehicles Inspector Grade II in Transport Department through Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission on 18.01.1988. Thereafter, he was promoted as Motor Vehicles Inspector Grade I on 05.09.1994 and further https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

promoted to the post of Regional Transport Officer on 23.08.2008. Subsequently, he was promoted as Deputy Transport Commissioner in the year 2016. The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that though the second respondent has sent a proposal to the first respondent to fill up the existing vacancies to the post of Joint Transport Commissioner, in which the name of the petitioner has been recommended for temporary promotion to the post of Joint Transport Commissioner, till date no orders have been passed by the first respondent. Hence, the petitioner came forward to file this Writ Petition.

3. Heard the submissions of Mr.A.Ganesan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.T.M.Pappiah, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

4. This Court, in the light of the above facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the matter, directs the first respondent to consider the proposal sent by the second respondent in his letter R.No.46435/T2/2016, dated 06.03.2017 and pass orders in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
