This matter is taken up for hearing through Video Conferencing mode.
2.Mr.MD.Ilayaraja, learned Government Advocate takes notice for respondents 1 to 9. By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal at the stage of admission.
3. The petitioner seeks for a mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 4 to consider and thereby disposing the representation made by the petitioner on 07.06.2017, 20.10.2019 to the first respondent to pay a sum of Rs.5 lakhs (in words Five lakhs only) as compensation to the petitioner with interest at 7.5% from the date of filing.
4.It is stated that the petitioner's husband died due to electric shock on 24.10.2016 and hence, the petitioner sought for relief under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund on 24.06.2016 and again on 07.06.2017. It is further stated that the representation of the petitioner was considered by the District Collector and through his proceedings dated 04.04.2018, he recommended to the Government for paying the monetary relief under the Chief Minister Relief Fund. It is further stated that even though such recommendation is made, the Government has not sanctioned the amount so far. Ventilating such grievance, the petitioner has made the representation referred to in the writ petition.
5. Considering the above stated facts and circumstances and going by the recommendations made by the District Collector, which is made available in the typed set of papers, this Court is of the view that the first respondent shall consider the claim of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders within a
period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, if no order is already passed so far. The Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
