ORDER

The relief sought for in this petition is to direct the respondents 1 & 2 to provide Police protection to the petitioner and his family members on the complaint of the petitioner dated 11.02.2021.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. In view of the nature of relief to be granted, notice to the respondents 3 to 5 is dispensed with.

4. The petitioner is a senior citizen apprehends threats at the hands of the neighbors. Therefore, he has filed the present Criminal Original Petition before this Court for the relief stated supra.

5. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondents informs that appropriate action has been taken by the respondent Police based on the complaint given by the petitioner on 11.02.2021.

6. Be that as it may, as per Rule 21 of Tamil Nadu Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2009, it is the duty of the first respondent to take all necessary steps for the protection of life and property of the senior citizens. Therefore, this Court directs the first respondent to look into the petition mentioned complaint and take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

7. This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of on these terms.
