Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of prohibition prohibiting the 4th and 6th
respondents herein from removing the "Insurance Group" as a separate Vocational subjection for study in the 6th respondent school viz., Govt., Tirbal Residential Higher Secondary School, Pechipparai, Kanyakumari District.

O R D E R
The petitioner is one of the teachers working in the 6th respondent School. Many courses are offered as vocational courses and one such course is "Insurance Group". According to the petitioner, many students prefer to join the "Insurance Group" which is a vocational course and hence, the said course should not be wound up.
2.However, in the counter affidavit filed by the respondent, it is stated that throughout the State of Tamil Nadu, the "Insurance Group" has become unpopular and only the 6th respondent school alone is conducting the said vocational course with less number of students. Therefore, the Government took a decision to wound up the said course.
3.The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner would submit that even though "Insurance Group" became unpopular in the past, it has now emerged as a very successful sector and therefore, the insurance vocation group should be retained. However, it is admitted by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that from the year 2010 onwards, the students are not admitted in the insurance vocation group, even in the 6th respondent school.
4.Since the 6th respondent School itself has not been admitting any students in the insurance vocation group from the year 2010 onwards, I do not find any merits in the writ petition and hence, the same is liable to be dismissed. Moreover, it has to be seen that only in the 6th respondent School alone the insurance vocation group is conducted. When that being so, it may not be possible for the Government to conduct separate examination for one school alone. However, the Government as well as 6th respondent shall take necessary care to protect the petitioner's interest.
5.With the above observations, the writ petition is dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. No costs.
