ORDER
When the matter was listed on 02.09.2021, this Court had passed an order directing the first respondent herein to consider the petitioner's representation, since it was represented that the respondents/Corporation had not paid the amount awarded in E.C.No.49 of 2018 by the Joint Commissioner of Labour-I, Chennai. Thereafter, the matter was mentioned before this Court and accordingly listed today under the caption "for being spoken to".
2. The learned counsel appearing for the respondents 2 to 4 submitted that, on 28.07.2021, a sum of Rs.7,13,960/- was deposited before the Joint Commissioner of Labour-I and subsequently, another sum of Rs.5,48,791/- was deposited towards accrued interest.
3. Accordingly, the amount ordered in E.C.No.49 of 2018, together with interest, is claimed to have been fully deposited before the Joint Commissioner of Labour-I. As such, the prayer in the present writ petition seeking for a direction to the District Collector to initiate recovery proceedings, may not survive.
4. However, if the petitioner is aggrieved against the quantum of deposits made, liberty is hereby granted to workout his remedies in accordance with law. Further, the petitioner is also at liberty to take appropriate steps for withdrawing the amounts deposited by the respondents 2 to 4 before the Joint Commissioner of Labour-I, Chennai.
5. With the above liberty and observation, the Writ Petition stands closed. No costs.
