The petitioner seeks for a Mandamus, directing the respondents to assign the Survey No.157/1 measuring 0.53.61 hectares, situated at Thirupattur Village, Vellore District to the petitioner as an Ex-service man.

2. It is claimed by the petitioner that he is an Ex-service man and he is in occupation of the subject matter land for several decades. It is further claimed by the petitioner that the 2nd and 3rd respondents made recommendation for assignment of said land in favour of the petitioner. petitioner seeks for assignment of the said land and grant of patta to him.

3. This Court, at this stage, is not expressing any view on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, as it is for the 1st respondent to consider and decide the claim of the petitioner. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of only by directing the 1st respondent to consider the claim of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
