Respondents PRAYER: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to remove the temporary bridge constructed across Adayar river at Ward No. 138, Chennai Corporation Region Number 10 between Thangavel Nagar in West Jaferkhanpet, Chennai - 600083 and Bharma Colony, Nandhambakkam, Chennai - 600032, pursuant to the petitioner's representations dated 25.02.2019 and 26.03.2019.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard Mr.P.Pandiyaraj, learned counsel for the petitioner; Dr.C.Ravichandran, learned counsel for respondents 1 to 3 and Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Government Pleader (i/c.) for the fourth respondent.
2. The prayer of the petitioner is to remove the temporary bridge constructed at Ward No. 138, Chennai Corporation Region Number 10 between Thangavel Nagar in West Jaferkhanpet, Chennai - 600083 and Bharma Colony, Nandhambakkam, Chennai - 600032.
3. The learned Government Pleader (i/c.) has tendered affidavit of the fourth respondent wherein it is stated that the bridge has been completely removed by the Section Officer of the Water Resources Department on 9.4.2019 and the local people have been warned against putting up of such bridge in future in violation of the standard technical parameters and its consequences and the people also seem to have realized the folly. It is further stated that the area is under constant watch by the field staff of the Water Resources Department and penal action in accordance with law will be initiated if the local residents make any fresh attempt to put up the temporary foot bridge.
4. In view of the averments in the counter affidavit filed by the fourth respondent, no further orders are necessary at this stage. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
