ORDER

The petitioner, who apprehends arrest for the alleged offence under Sections 4(1)(A) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 2024, in Crime No.22 of 2026 on the file of the respondent police seeks anticipatory bail.

The allegation against the petitioner is that the petitioner is involved in procuring 672 bottles of liquor 180 ML and while selling the same on Thiruvalluvar Day on 16.01.2026 and on prior information, when the respondent police visited the place, the petitioner after seeing the police ran away. Hence, the present case.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready to co-operate with the investigation. Hence, he prayed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) for the respondent police, reiterated the prosecution case and submitted that the petitioner is having one previous case similar in nature, and also submitted that, there was a huge quantity involved in this case. Hence, he opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Considering the totality circumstances of the case and on the fact that, there was huge quantity of 672 bottles of 180 ml liquor were recovered from the petitioner, and on the further fact that the petitioner is having one 2/4

previous case of similar in nature, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 08.04.2026 mp To
