ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to fix a fair rent for the Shops in VOC Daily Market (Flower Market), situated at Ammapet, Salem, as per the rates fixed by the Public Works Department, and to allot a shop to the petitioner based on the petitioner's representation dated 26.02.2026, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 2.

According to the petitioner, since the earlier licensee withdrew from the tender in April 2025 in respect of the shops in VOC Daily Market, situated at the address more fully described in the prayer to the writ petition, the petitioner is entitled for allotment of a Shop and has requested the respondents to fix fair rent for the shops, as per the rates fixed by the Public Works Department, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. Since the petitioner's representation dated 26.02.2026 has not been considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

Dr.T.Seenivasan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for 1st respondent and Ms.N.Devi, learned Standing counsel, accepts notice for 2nd respondent.

No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if the petitioner's

representation, as stated above, is directed to be considered, on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 5.

This Court is not expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's representation.

For the foregoing reasons, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the 2nd respondent to pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, on the petitioner's representation dated 26.02.2026, referred supra, seeking fixation of fair rent for Shops, in VOC Daily Market at the address more fully disclosed in the prayer to the writ petition and for allotment of a shop to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
