This writ petition is filed for a issuance of direction to the respondent to settle a sum of Rs.1,12,260/- due to the petitioner towards the
interest due on the belated settlement of commutation amount.
2. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation submitted that in a similar matter only 6% p.a. has been ordered.
3. In that view of the matter, the respondent Corporation is directed to pay interest @ 6% p.a. from the date on which the commutation amount was due till the date of settlement and the arrears have to be settled within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. If the arrears is not settled within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, then the rate of interest would be 12% p.a from the date on which the amount became due till the amount is settled.
4. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 08.04.2024 Index : Yes/No Speaking order/Non-speaking order dpq
