O R D E R

The Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission and provide adequate police protection for conducting the birthday event of Dr.Ambedkar, which is scheduled to be held on 14.04.2023 morning 10.00 am to 12.00 pm at Mayiladuthurai District, Thalaignayiru Panchayat, Pattavarthi Mookcot by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.03.2023. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has given a representation to the respondent Police to grant permission and provide adequate police protection for conducting the birthday event of Dr.Ambedkar, which is scheduled to be held on 14.04.2023 morning 10.00 am to 12.00 pm at Mayiladuthurai District, Thalaignayiru Panchayat, Pattavarthi Mookcot on 13.03.2023, but so far, the respondents have not considered the same.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that on instructions that since there was a dispute between the petitioner and certain other persons, a peace committee meeting was held on 07.04.2023 , in which, the petitioner and local village people, who were cited as "A" party and the rival persons, who were cited as "B" party attended. In the peace committee meeting, it was decided that the celebration of the birthday event of Dr.Ambedkar, which is scheduled to be held on 14.04.2023 can take place at the premises of the Ilanthopu Cooperative Society.

4.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.

5.In view of the participation of both parties in the Peace Committee Meeting, the parties are directed to strictly comply with the decision taken in the peace committee meeting. The respondents shall also ensure that the celebration takes place in terms of the decision taken in 3/5

the peace committee meeting. It is needless to say that if any party controverts the decision taken in the peace committee meeting, the respondent-Police will be at liberty to take action in the manner known to law. No costs.
