Prayer:Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd and 3rd respondents to consider the petitioners representations dated 21/12/2021and 25 /01/2022 in compliance with the Office Memo dated 21/01/2022 issued by the 1st respondent in a time bound manner and consequently to direct the 5th and 6th respondents to take appropriate action and provide police provide police protection in accordance with Rule 21 of the Tamil Nadu Maintenance and Welfare of parents and Senior Citizens Rules 2009 and the provisions of The Maintenance and Welfare of parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007.

O R D E R

Mr.C.Jayaprakash, learned Government Advocate accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with instructions to proceed with the matter finally even at this juncture. Hence, by consent of both learned counsel, this Writ Petition is disposed finally even at the stage of admission.

2. The petitioner, a senior citizen, seeks a mandamus directing the 2nd and 3rd respondents to consider his representations dated 21.12.2021 and 25.01.2022 in line with the Tamil Nadu Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and the allied Rules 2009.

3. Mr.Jayaprakash would confirm that the representations, received on 21.01.2022, are under process and has been enquired into on 11.03.2022. He further states that the matter is posted for further inquiry on 02.05.2022 and assures the Court that the petitioner and other necessary parties shall be heard and orders passed expeditiously, in any event within a period of four (4) weeks from 02.05.2022.

4. As regards the prayer of the petitioner, both in the representations as well as before this Court, to provide police protection as the petitioner apprehends threat to his life from his children, let the same be considered by the authorities and an appropriate decision taken, in accordance with law.
