PRAYER : Writ Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to provide electricity connection to petitioner for the deep bore well situate in S.No.151/1, Muthampatti Post, Banapuram Village, Mettur Taluk, Salem District.

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the second respondent to provide electricity connection
to the petitioner for the deep bore well situated in S.No.151/1, Muthampatti Post, Banapuram Village, Mettur Taluk, Salem District.
2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner made a submission that the petitioner submitted an application for providing electricity service connection. It is needless to state that if the application is in order and the petitioner is otherwise eligible for availing the benefit of electricity service connection, the said application is to be considered. 3.The learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondent, on getting instructions from Arulmigu Vetrayaswamy Perumal Thirukovil made a submission that the land in which electricity service connection sought for belongs to the temple, the petitioner is a poojari and therefore, the application must be submitted by the temple for providing electricity connection. 4.
The learned counsel for the petitioner also states that the connection may be provided in the name of the temple. 5.This being the submission made, the temple authorities must also verify whether they have any objection for providing electricity service connection in the name of the temple. If the application is endorsed by the owner of the property, in the present case, the temple, then the Electricity Board authorities may consider the application and take a decision by following the procedures as contemplated under law.
