The writ petition is filed for the relief set out below: "directing the respondents to pay interest to the petitioner at the rate of 9% per annum for the belated payment of his Provident Fund, Earned Leave Salary and Gratuity Amount within a time limit."
2. It is the case of the petitioner that he worked as Special Grade Conductor in the respondent-Corporation and had retired from service on 31.07.2024. The respondents had settled all the retiral benefits including Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave Salary etc., only on 02.12.2025 with a delay of 489 days. Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioner. The petitioner had made a representation to the respondents on 29.01.2026 to pay the interest at the rate of 9% p.a., for the belated payment of Earned Leave Salary, Gratuity Amount. Since the same was not considered to date, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on records.

4. Admittedly, the Earned Leave Salary, Gratuity Amount and Provident Amount etc., has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner is entitled to interest on the same. Therefore, a mandamus is issued directing the respondents to disburse the 6% interest for belated payment of Earned Leave Salary, Gratuity Amount and Provident fund etc., within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5.With the above directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 25.03.2026 ds Index : Yes/No Internet : Yes/No Speaking Order/Non-Speaking Order : Yes/No To 1.
