This petition has been filed to call for the records and quash the FIR in Crime No.1666/2016 on the file of the Pallikaranai Police Station.

2.On the complaint lodged by the second respondent, the first respondent has registered a case in Crime No.1666/2016 on 09.04.2016 under Sections 341, 294(b), 324, 506(ii) I.P.C. read with Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment on Women Act against the petitioner herein, for quashing which, this petition has been filed on the ground that the parties have arrived at a compromise.

3.Today, Mrs.A.Saraswathi, W Grade I 32437 is present. The petitioner and the second respondent are present and they are identified by the police.

4.The second respondent has filed an affidavit dated 20.04.2018, wherein at paragraph No.4, it is stated as follows: "4. I submit that, since my daughter had decided to annul the marriage and the complaint in FIR 1666 of 2016 was the result of the strained matrimonial relationship between my daughter and the petitioner, I have no objection in quashing the FIR 1666 of 2016 on the file of the first respondent police. I submit that, I am filing this affidavit on my own with free will and mind and there is not even the smallest element of coercion, fear or threat.

I therefore pray that this Honourable Court may be pleased to record this affidavit and quash the FIR 1666 of 2016 on the file of the 1st respondent police and thus render justice."

5.In view of the above, this petition is allowed and the FIR in Cr.No.1666 of 2016 pending on the file of the respondent police is hereby quashed.
