ORDER

By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2.The petitioner claims to be the owner of two portions of residential house comprised in Old Survey Nos.375 and 376 and Resurvey No.985/1 at No.6/10, Narayanan Street, 8th Lane, Komaleeswaranpet, Pudupet, Chennai and submitted an application on 18.10.2013 along with relevant documents for issuance of patta and after several visits, he came to know that the application submitted by him is missing and therefore, once again, he submitted an application on 24.09.2014 for issuance of patta. According to the petitioner, the Government Surveyor from the Nungambakkam-Egmore Taluk Office visited the property and measured the same, but, however, the respondent has not passed any orders. The petitioner has also submitted a reminder dated 19.02.2015 bringing to the knowledge of the respondent about the inaction on his part to consider the application submitted by the petitioner for issuance of patta. Since no orders have been passed, the petitioner came forward to file this writ petition.

3.Heard the submissions of Mr.P.Mohanraj, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Digvijaya Pandian, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4.This Court, without going into merits of the claim projected by the petitioner in this writ petition, directs the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's application dated 24.09.2014 for issuance of patta and the reminder dated 19.02.2015 in accordance with law, after putting on notice the persons concerned and pass orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner as well as to the persons concerned. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.

Note: Registry is directed to communicate a copy of the order to the Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, Fort St. George, Chennai - 9 for appropriate action.
