Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to appoint and post only qualified and eligible candidates who possess MDS-Pedodontia, as Assistant Professor, in Department of Pedodontia, in Government Dental College, Chennai, by considering the representation made by the petitioner on 28.05.2015 and on 01.06.2015 in accordance with law.

ORDER

The petitioner is working as an Assistant Surgeon (Dental) in the Government Hospital at Sirgazhi in Nagapattinam District. He made a representation dated 01.06.2015 stating that Pedodontics Specialty post is vacant in Government Dental College, Chennai and as he is the senior most (CDL Specialty-Pedodontics Senior) and eligible candidate for that Specialty post, his name may be considered for that post. Since the said representation is not disposed of, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition. 2.

Though a wider prayer is made in the Writ Petition, the learned Counsel for the petitioner has now submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if his representation dated 01.06.2015 is directed to be disposed of by the 2nd respondent, within a stipulated period.

In view of the narrow prayer now made by the learned Counsel for the petitioner, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 01.06.2015 and pass orders thereon on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order. 4.
