Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, call for the entire records in letter No.CFR/RTI/11045/AR1 dated 01.08.2014 on the file of second respondent and quash the same as illegal and direct the second respondent to issue a degree of M.Tech (by research) faculty of information and technology as per regulation January 2009 to secure the ends of justice.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed to quash the letter bearing No.CFR/RTI/11045/AR1 dated 01.08.2014 issued by the 2nd respondent and to direct the second respondent to issue a degree of M.Tech (by research) under the Faculty of Information and Technology, as per the Regulations 2009.

2.When the matter was taken up for consideration, the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents produced a copy of the

communication dated 26.02.2018 sent by the second respondent, wherein, it has been stated as follows:

"With reference to the above, Mr.S.Asokkumar (Reg.No.MT10900931001) has registered for M.Tech.(By Research) programme under the Faculty of Information Technology in the erstwhile Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. But during merger with Anna University, the Anna University, Chennai norms are adopted by all regions of Anna University of Technology.

As per the regulations of Anna University, Chennai he will be awarded M.Tech.(By Research) under the Faculty of Science and Humanities based on his basic Degree M.Sc.(IT). The necessary direction may be given to initiate further action." 3.This Court is of the opinion that the query raised by the petitioner in this writ petition, has been well answered by the second respondent in the aforesaid communication, stating that based on his basic degree M.Sc (IT), the petitioner will be awarded M.Tech (By Research) under the Faculty of Science and Humanities, which can be treated as equivalent to the Faculty of Information Technology.

4.Recording the aforesaid communication, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petitions are closed.
