Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, pleased to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st to 4th respondents to consider the joint representation of the petitioners, dated 18.03.2024 for including the qualification for the post of Sanitary Inspector as P.G. Diploma in Sanitary Inspector Course in Gandhigram Rural Institute in Urban Local Bodies Rules, 2023 through a sub-committee formed under G.O.(Ms) No.77, dated 14.06.2023 within the time frame fixed by this Court.

ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondent Nos.1 to 4 to consider the representation of the petitioners, dated 18.03.2024.

2. The petitioners are seeking to include the qualification of P.G. Diploma also in Sanitary Inspector course in Gandhigram Rural Institute as an essential qualification/eligibility for the post of Sanitary Inspector under the Urban Local Bodies.

3. When the matter came up for admission, Mr.A.Leeban, learned Counsel for the petitioners would submit that for effective implementation of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 as well as the Urbal Local Bodies Rules, 2023, the Government has issued G.O.(Ms).No.77, dated 14.06.2023, in and by which, it has constituted committees to look into various issues.

4. As far as the service matters are concerned, a Committee head by the Joint Secretary to the Government, Municipal Administration is constituted consisting of the other members also. The said committee is at present looking into various service issues including the framing/amendment of the recruitment rules. Therefore, the petitioners representation can be appropriately considered by the said Committee.

Mr.Stalin Abhimanyu, learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent Nos.2 and 3 would submit that the Committee will consider the representation in the course of its due deliberations and take a decision in accordance with law and will also inform the decision taken, to the petitioners.

6. In view thereof, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the Committee constituted under G.O.(Ms).No.77, dated 14.06.2023 to consider the representation of the petitioners, dated 18.03.2024 in accordance with law. In any event, the decision taken by the Committee shall be communicated to the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date 4/6
