Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for writ of mandamus directing the respondent to give Police Protection to the petitioner HBN's Affected Peoples Association meeting which will be held on 09.09.2017 fromMorning 10.00 a.m to Evening 4.00 p.m at Sree Jeeva Mahal, D.No.32, Renganathan Street, Pallavaram, Chennai by considering the petitioner Association representation dated 31.8.2017.

ORDER

The limited prayer sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to consider the representation of the petitioner association dated 31.8.2017 wherein they had sought for police protection for the purpose of conducting a meeting on 09.9.2017.

2. The requirement as to whether the police protection is needed or not is for the respondent to consider and it would not be appropriate for this Court to direct the respondent to extend police protection.

3. Hence, there shall be a direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 31.8.2017 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders on or before 08.9.2017.

4. It is made clear that I have not expressed any of my views with regard to the entitlement of the petitioner association seeking for protection.
