ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed for a direction to expedite the trial in C.C.No.1609 of 2009 on the file of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore and dispose of the same within a specified time frame.

2.The matter relates to dowry harassment. In this connection, the petitioner lodged a complaint before the respondent, against her husband, father-in-law and mother-inlaw, and the same was registered in Crime No.17 of 2007 under Sections 498(A), 406, 506(II) IPC r/w Sections 34 IPC and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act. The petitioner states that she also filed a petition for protection under Sections 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, before the Judicial Magistrate No.II, Thanjavur and the same was numbered as D.V.A.No.39 of 2012. The case relating to Crime No.17 of 2007 has been numbered as C.C.No.1609 of 2009 on the file of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai and till date the first accused/ husband of the petitioner, is absconding and evading from the trial, and a nonhttps://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

bailable warrant was also issued against him. Since the trial has not yet commenced in C.C.No.1609 of 2009, the petitioner has come up with the present criminal original petition. 3.Mr.C.Emalias, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, takes notice for the respondent.

4.Upon considering the submissions made and also the facts and circumstances of the case, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai, is directed to split up the cases and complete the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
