ORDER

With consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

This writ petition has been preferred seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider and pass orders

on the petitioner school's proposal application seeking recognition of linguistic minority status submitted on 23.12.2013 and re-submitted on 05.07.2014 in accordance with law. The petitioner school, claiming to be a linguistic minority school, sought recognition for linguistic minority status by submitting application on 23.12.2013 to the second respondent, viz., the Director of Matriculation Schools, Chennai. The said application was kept pending notwithstanding the recommendation made by the Inspector of Matriculation Schools vide proceedings dated 06.03.2014 that the same is in order. Since there was no progress in the matter, the petitioner addressed a reminder dated 23.06.2014 to the Director of School Education. While so, the Director of Matriculation Schools, vide communication dated 01.07.

2014, called upon the petitioner school to re-submit its application after rectifying certain defects found therein. In response, on 05.07.2014, the petitioner school re-submitted the application seeking linguistic minority status after rectifying the defects. Though the said application was received by the second respondent on 21.07.2014, till date, no orders have been passed therein. Hence, the instant writ petition seeking the aforestated relief. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the case, this Court directs the second respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner school's proposal application dated 23.12.2013 which was re-submitted on 05.07.

2014, on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. Costs made easy.
