ORDER

Read this order in conjunction with and in continuation of order dated 25.04.2024 that reads as follows:- "Print the name of Mr.G.Nanmaran, learned Special Government Pleader instead of Mr.Anandha Kumar, Government Advocate for respondent.

2. Read this order in conjunction with and in continuation of order dated 13.03.2024.

3. The respondent is already in contempt as recorded in the previous order. Be that as it may, on 13.03.2024 while reserving the right of the Court to impose appropriate punishment on the contemnor at a later date, the direction under order dated 22.04.2022 were reiterated, to be 1/3

executed within a period of six (6) weeks from 13.03.2024.

4. The matter is listed today for production of orders. No orders are produced. Instead Mr.Nanmaran states that the enquiry is on-going and is not yet completed.

5. In such circumstances, the respondent ought to have at least filed an affidavit seeking extension of time for completion of enquiry. This has not been done.

While the respondent has the benefit of the summer break to complete the enquiry and ensure that orders are passed, it is reiterated that the delay and the continuing contempt has not escaped the attention of the Court. The casual attitude with which the respondent approaches the Court is deprecated and will be taken note of while imposing punishment.

8. In order to convey the seriousness with which the court approaches the matter, the respondent is put to terms as an interim measure of punishment and will remit a sum of Rs.10,000/- to the Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai and file proof of payment, prior to the next date of hearing."

Today, compliance / status report is filed enclosing an order in Na.Ka.No.2428/2023/H1 dated 02.05.2024. With this, the directions issued under order dated 22.04.2022 stand complied as confirmed by Mr.Baskarn, who appears for the petitioner. The costs imposed under order dated 25.04.2024 have also been remitted. 3.

Since the respondent tenders an unconditional apology, no further proceedings for contempt are taken.

This contempt petition is closed. No costs.
