O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.12.2021 for grant of electricity service connection in her name.

2. According to the petitioner, she has submitted a representation on 23.12.2021 seeking for electricity service connection in her name for the property situated at No.32/82, Ramasamy Thottam, Adyar, Chennai-20. Since her representation has not been considered, this writ petition has been filed.

3. Heard Mr.M.Murugesan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.Jai Venkates, learned Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner has not submitted https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

an application in accordance with the statute, but has only submitted a representation and that is the reason for not considering the petitioner's representation.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is willing to submit an application in accordance with the statutory procedure.

6. No prejudice would be caused to the respondent, if the petitioner is allowed to submit an application. Once such an application is submitted, the respondent shall consider the same on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner.

7. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the petitioner to submit an application seeking for electricity service connection in accordance with the procedure to the respondent within a week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and on receipt of the said application, the respondent shall pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing within a period of eight weeks thereafter.

With the aforesaid directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
