Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a WRIT OF MANDAMUS, directing the respondent to grant permission and police protection to conduct Cultural Programme (Adal Padal Nigalchi) in the event of T. Pottakollai Village Arulmigu Sree Maha Mariamman Temple Chithirai Festival at Udayarpalayam Taluk, Ariyalur District on 10.05.2022 between 06.00 P.M. to 11.00 P.M. by considering the petitioner's representation dated 20.04.2022. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking to issue a direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.04.2022.

2. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for respondent submitted that the respondent has not furnished the status report till date.

3. Despite oral directions issued by this Court, the respondent has not acted upon to file a report, which clearly shows disobedience of the order of this Court. Since, the festival is scheduled to be held on 10.05.2022, this Court directs the respondent police to consider the petitioner's representation and pass orders, forthwith. Superintendent of Police, Ariyalur District is directed to take action against the respondent police for the aforesaid disobedience and to file a report.

With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
