PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's lessor's application dated 29.1.2026 to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's shop situated at Sri Kamatchi Amman Koil, Kamatchi Amman Koil Street, Cuddalore OT,
Cuddalore and consequently direct the respondents to effect electricity supply.

ORDER
This is a petition filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the first respondent to consider the application of the petitioner's lessor dated 29.1.2026 for providing electricity service connection to her shop at Sri Kamatchi Amman Koil, Kamatchi Amman Koil Street, Cuddalore OT, Cuddalore and consequently to direct the respondents to effect electricity supply.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel accepting notice for the respondents.
3. The case of the petitioner is as follows:
(i) The petitioner claims to be a tenant under the management of Kamatchi Amman Koil, Kamatchi Amman Koil Street, Cuddalore OT,
Cuddalore and is running a shop. She entered into a rental agreement on 05.1.2026 with the temple authorities and has been paying rent from January 2026 without fail. The petitioner is earning her livelihood through the shop, which is being run by her. But, no electricity service connection has been provided to the shop premises till date. Without the electricity service connection, the petitioner is finding it very difficult to run the shop.
(ii) On 29.1.2026, the temple authorities sought electricity service connection to the shop run by the petitioner. Though the wiring work in the shop premises was also completed even on the same day, the respondent officials have not taken any steps to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's shop. As no action has been initiated to give electricity service connection, the petitioner is before this Court.
4. Considering the limited nature of the relief sought and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to consider the application of the petitioner's lessor dated 29.1.2026 to provide electricity
service connection to the petitioner's shop, on merits and pass appropriate orders thereon in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. 10-04-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order To
