Respondent Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 6.11.2014, received by the respondent on 8.11.2014 and pass an order promoting the petitioner as Inspector of Police in the Tamil Nadu Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad with the date of 1.9.1993 and to give further promotion as per the provisions of Rules and Regulations. ORDER

The petitioner initially served in the Indian Army and thereafter he was absorbed as Sub-Inspector of Police in Tamil Nadu Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad. It is the grievance of the petitioner that he was not promoted as Inspector of Police notwithstanding his continuous service and earlier service in Army. The petitioner submitted a representation on 6.11.2014 requesting the respondent to consider his case for promotion. Since there was no follow up action taken by the respondent, the petitioner is before this Court.

2. The respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the representation of the petitioner, dated 6.11.2014, on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
