ORDER

This writ petition is directed against the notice dated nil issued by the Revenue Officer, Corporation of Chennai, calling upon the petitioner to apply for a trade licence.

2.According to the petitioner, there is no need for a trade licence in view of the fact that the firm is only conducting an office in the premises in question. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel on behalf of the respondents.

4. The petitioner is yet to give a reply to the notice issued by the 2nd respondent.

5. The question raised by the petitioner is a matter to be decided by the 2nd respondent after obtaining the views of the petitioner.

6. The petitioner is given two weeks time from today to submit his reply to the notice issued by the 2nd respondent. The 2nd respondent is directed to consider the reply and pass appropriate orders on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the reply. No coercive action shall be taken against the petitioner till the disposal of the matter.

The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
