Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Certiorified Mandamus calling for the records of the third respondent with respect to the original impugned order in G.O.(Ms) No.37, Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection (F1) Department dated 07.05.2021 published in the website of the 1st respondent on 07.05.2021 and quash the same as illegal and consequently forbearing the respondents to pay any Covid-19 pandemic relief

of monetary compensation to any one of the beneficiary in the Ration Card is Permanent Employee or Staff or Pensioner of the Central and State Government Departments, Public Sector Units and Public Sector Undertakings including Banks, BSNL, Railways, Postal, Teaching faculties of Government and Government aided Colleges and Schools, Government Autonomous Bodies and Tamil Nadu Judicial Service other than vaccintion and medical treatment.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner seeks cancellation of a government notification of May 7, 2021 pertaining to the monetary relief to the rice card holders.

2. It is submitted by learned Advocate-General that the scheme has been almost fully implemented by June 29, 2021. It is the further submission of the State that the petitioner's prayer for making a distinction between the government servant card holders and others cannot be made since there is no mechanism for such purpose.

3. Since the benefit appears already to have been conferred and the payments released to the beneficiaries, nothing survives of the writ petition and W.P.(MD) No.9421 of 2021 is disposed of. Consequently, W.M.P.(MD) Nos.7143 to 7146 of 2021 are closed. There will be no order as to costs.
