Mr.Muralivinoth COMMON ORDER The petitions are filed to direct the respondent to pay 18 percentage per annum interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual payment made to the petitioners within stipulated time.

2. It is the case of the petitioners that they were working as Special Grade Driver and Special Grade Conductor in the respondent Corporation and retired from service. The respondents settled their terminal benefits belatedly. Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners made a representation to the respondent to pay the interest at the rate of 18% p.a., for the belated payment of the petitioners'

terminal benefits. Since there is no response, the petitioners are before this Court.

3. Heard the learned Counsel on either side and perused the materials available on records.

4. Admittedly, the terminal benefits has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners are entitled to interest on the same. Therefore, the Writ petitions are allowed as prayed for and a mandamus is issued directing the respondent to disburse the 6% interest for belated payment of terminal benefits within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
