Respondents Writ Petition has been filed, praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the first respondent to forthwith provide a new electricity service connection in the name of the petitioner to his house premises situated at No.14, Kollapuri Nagar 2nd Street, Moolakothalam, Chennai-600 021.

By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner is an encroacher of a vacant site and he put up a thatched shed thereon, wherein he is residing along with his family. Subsequently, the Government has put up a fireproof house on the said land, but, the petitioner is not provided with electricity supply. Therefore, he submitted a representation, dated 13.05.2015, to the first respondent, praying for providing a new electricity connection to the house. Since the first respondent did not choose to pass any orders, the petitioner has come forward to file this Writ Petition.

Mr.P.R.Dhilip Kumar, learned Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the first respondent, would submit that since an objection is raised by the second respondent for providing electricity connection to the premises of the petitioner, there has been some delay in processing the application of the petitioner.

4. Having heard the submission of the learned counsel, this Court, without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, directs the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation, dated 13.05.2015, in accordance with law, after putting on notice the second respondent, and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner as well as the second respondent.
