... Respondents PRAYER:- Having regard to the second surge of Covid-19 pandemic in the State of Tamil Nadu and that many Judicial Officers and Staff of the Subordinate Judiciary are being affected by the Covid-19, to avoid further spread of the disease, this suo motu writ petition has been taken for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the first respondent to take necessary steps in this regard.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) This court took suo motu cognizance of the situation prevalent during the second surge of the pandemic and issued a series of directions regarding extension of remand and interim orders.

2. A detailed order was passed on 17.5.2021 extending the interim orders passed by the High Court, both at the Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench, till 30.6.2021 or unless vacated or modified, apart from issuing many other directions. The said order was partly extended till 31.8.2021 by an order dated 27.7.2021. Now the position does not warrant continuation of the said order, rather the petition is to be closed. Accordingly, the order dated 17.5.2021, as partly modified vide order dated 27.7.2021, is not extended beyond 31.8.2021 and looking at the present situation, the matter is ordered to be closed.

3. W.M.P.No.26895 of 2021 seeking impleadment is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to espouse the cause by maintaining a separate writ petition, if he so chooses. There will be no order as to costs.
