The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 495, 498(A), 406 and 506(ii) of IPC in Crime No.5 of 2024, seeks anticipatory bail. 2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner and the defacto complainant are college friends at Agri University and then petitioner married the defacto complainant namely Arulpriya on 29.10.2024 by conceal his first marriage with one Arivuselvi. Petitioner grabbed huge money from the defacto complainant and also demanded dowry from the defacto complainant. Hence the complaint.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the defacto complainant had been invited by the petitioner for his first marriage and she is aware of the first marriage of the petitioner. He has nothing to do with the said offence as alleged in the complaint. The petitioner has been unnecessarily implicated in the crime only to extract money. The petitioner is the sole 1/4

breadwinner of his family. His parent, wife and infant child are solely depending on the petitioner. The petitioner undertakes to co-operate with the investigation and further states that he will not tamper with the witnesses. Hence, he prays to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 4.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent vehemently opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 5.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) for the respondent and perused the entire materials available on record.

6.Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) and considering the gravity of the offence and also taking note of the fact that the case is at initial stage and it needs detailed investigation. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 7.Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed. 2/4
