ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of Writ of Certiorari, calling for the records of the respondent in so far as it levies an amount of Rs.1,24,596 for the EB service at No.250-474-4241, in the bill dated 26.02.2021 on the petitioner Association and quash the same.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The learned counsel for the respondent would submit that if there is any grievance over the assessment of the electricity bill, there is a Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum under Regulation 18 of Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply Code.

4. Therefore, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum is directed to dispose of the appeal to be filed by the petitioner,

within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of the appeal. Till the disposal of the appeal to be filed before the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, the impugned demand is stayed, on condition that the petitioner shall continue to pay the electricity consumption charges for future months. It is made clear that if the petitioner failed to file any appeal as against the demand made by the respondent before the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, the respondent is at liberty to proceed with the demand in accordance with law.

5. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
