ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard on admission.

2. The present writ petition, styled as public interest litigation, has been filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 14.3.2026.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that certain anti-social elements and large-scale farmers are illegally drawing and utilizing

water for their own personal use from the check dam which has been constructed across Amaravati river. It is stated that they employ electric motors with capacities of 5 HP and 10 HP to pump out water during night hours. In this regard, the petitioner has submitted a representation to the authorities on 14.3.2026, however, till date no action has been taken.

4. Learned State counsel, by producing the written instructions dated 13.4.2026 received from the Executive Engineer, WRD, Amaravathy Basin Division, submitted that the Assistant EngineerWRD, Amaravathy Basin Division has already taken action on the representation of the petitioner and a joint inspection is scheduled to be conducted on 28.4.2026 and based on the outcome of the joint inspection report, the authorities shall take appropriate action.

5. Recording the aforesaid statement made by learned State counsel, the writ petition is closed. The respondent authorities are directed to conduct the joint inspection on the scheduled date and thereafter, based on the joint inspection report, take appropriate action in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible.

There shall be no order as to costs.
