Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to supervise the medical staff in the Government Hospitals periodically to ensure the proper and effective treatment is given to all Corona patients in order to prevent death rate among Corona patients and to speed up Corona patients recovery.

ORDER

(made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This is another needless petition requiring the obvious to be done.

2. Long before the present petition was instituted, suo motu proceedings were brought by this Court to monitor the steps taken to deal with the second surge of Covid-19 in the State of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. At the moment, the second surge seems to be subsiding and matters appear to be under control, notwithstanding the huge number of positive cases and increasing number of deaths.

3. The petitioner seeks a direction on the respondents to supervise the medical staff in government hospitals periodically to ensure that proper and effective treatment is given to Covid19 patients. It must be acknowledged that though there was a lack of beds and infrastructure and key supplies at the initial stage of the second surge, facilities have since been augmented and there is hardly any credible complaint of people dying without treatment in this State and the Union Territory.

4. Since the Covid situation is being monitored by this Court in the suo motu proceedings, being W.P.No.10486 of 2021, the present petition, W.P.No.12142 of 2021, is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
