Mr.K.Raja Standing Counsel Order The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to pay the petitioners interest for the belated payment of PF, gratuity and earned leave salary at the rate of 12 percentage per annum within a specified time, as may be fixed by this Court. 2.
The case of the petitioners is that they were appointed in the respondent-Transport Corporation on various dates and retired from service on 31.05.2024, 31.05.2024, 31.05.2024, 30.04.2023, 02.07.2024, 31.03.2024, 30.04.2018 and 28.12.2020 respectively. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners on 02.12.2025, 02.12.2025, 31.05.2024, 12.02.2025, 02.12.2025, 25.08.2025, 22.09.2019 and 02.12.2022 but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted representations to the respondent dated 03.02.2026, 03.02.2026, 03.02.2026, 24.12.2025, 03.02.2026, 16.02.2026, 16.02.2026 and 03.02.2026, requesting to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4.
Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. In the result, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
