ORDER

The present Writ Petition is filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider petitioner representation, dated 19.3.2026 and consequently, direct the 1st respondent to retain petitioner at Sub Jail, Karur, as Chief Head Warder.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has been serving as Chief Head Warder at Sub Jail, Karur, from 21.05.2022 and continues as such to date. The 1st respondent conducted a staff grievance meeting on 11.03.2026, encompassing transfer requests, review of charges, punishment, sanction of increments, and pay anomalies, among others. The petitioner submitted a representation dated 03.03.2026, seeking a transfer to Sub Jail, Kulithalai, or Vesadandur, or Thuraiyur, being the nearest locations, in view of his wife's employment and his tender-aged children studying in school. This transfer request was duly recommended by the 2nd respondent vide Letter dated 02.03.2026 to the 1st respondent.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that the 1st respondent, contrary to the petitioner's request, vide proceedings dated 11.03.2026, transferred and posted the petitioner to Central Prison, Tiruchy,

away from his family. Hence, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 19.03.2026 to the 1st respondent seeking retention at Sub Jail, Karur, as Chief Head Warder, in his original place of posting. However, till date, the same has not been considered by the 1st respondent. Aggrieved by the inaction of the 1st respondent, the present Writ Petition is filed.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the submission made by the learned counsel for both parties, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the representation filed by the petitioner dated 19.03.2026 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
