Prayer: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 438 Cr.P.C., praying to enlarge the petitioner on bail in the event of his arrest by the respondent police in Crime No.1642 of 2020, on the file of the respondent police.

O R D E R

The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offences punishable under Section 4(iii) Tamil Nadu Gaming Act, 1930 r/w Section 420 IPC in Crime No.1642 of 2020, seeks anticipatory bail.

2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner along with other accused was found indulging in gambling by cotton betting. 3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. Hence, he prays for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that there are seven previous cases of similar nature pending against the petitioner. Hence, he vehemently opposed for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Taking into consideration the nature of offence and the antecedents of the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
