This contempt petition has been filed for the alleged disobedience of the orders of this Court dated 13.12.2021 made in W.P.No.25864 of 2021.

Today when the case is taken up for hearing, Mr.R.U.Dinesh Raj Kumar, learned Additional Government Pleader has submitted that the Government has come forward to issue a Government Order in G.O.(D).No.337, Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MA.IV) Department, dated 16.06.2023, under which, a total sum of Rs.136,44,34,828/- has been sanctioned for the purpose of waiver of rental arrears in various Districts throughout the State and this amount would be distributed accordingly, based on which, the concerned local body or the Authority concerned to whom the rental arrears payable by the respondent/lessees would be waived as per the terms and conditions of the G.O.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that even though the Government Order has been issued, so far it has not been implemented insofar as the petitioner is concerned. Hence, the respondent 2/4

Virudhachalam Municipality is hereby directed to implement the import of G.O.(D).No.337,Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MA.IV) Department, dated 16.06.2023 and accordingly give the waiver of lease rent to the petitioner as per his entitlement according to the Government Order within a period of eight(8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
