The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 11.07.2023 in Crime No.44 of 2023, for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c) read with Section 20(b) (ii)(C) and 25 of NDPS Act and 7 and 24(1) of COTPA Act in C.C.No.01 of 2024 on the file of the learned Additional District Judge for EC Act Cases, Coimbatore, seeks bail.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he is no way connected with the alleged offence. He further submitted that the petitioner is suffering incarceration from 11.07.2023 and he is ready to abide any stringent condition that may be imposed by this Court. Hence, he prayed for grant of bail to the petitioner.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that, petitioner along with other accused were involved in smuggling of ganja chocolates weighing 245.100 kgs and other tobacco products weighing 501 kgs, which is a commercial quantity. 4. Considering the quantity of the contraband seized from the petitioner, which is a commercial quantity and it needs detailed investigation, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
