[RESPONDENTS] Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus to direct the first respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the representation made by the petitioner on 25.5.2015 for payment of arrears of salary and also permit him to work as Overhead Tank Operator in the second respondent Village Panchayat within a period of four weeks or any other time limit as this Court deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case.

With the consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2.According to the petitioner, he was initially appointed as Overhead Tank operator on 08.04.2006, on consolidated pay of Rs.1,400/- per month, in the second respondent Panchayat. It is stated by the petitioner that he is incharge of four overhead tanks and apart from maintaining the overhead tanks, he has to carryout https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
small repairs relating to pumps and to maintain the water lines on regular basis.
3.The grievance of the petitioner is that he is not paid salary for the past 1 1/2 years and according to him, he was also not permitted to work from May 2015. In this regard, the petitioner has submitted a representation dated 25.05.2015 to the first respondent to direct the second respondent to provide him work as overhead tank operator and also for payment of salary for the service rendered by him.
4.Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner, the first respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 25.05.2015, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
