ORDER
The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 to 4 to grant Electricity Service connection to the petitioner's house comprised in S.No.613/5, (Old S.No.657/1A) situated at Marakkam South Village, Marakkam Taluk, Villupuram District based of the petitioner's application dated 29.09.2025.
2. Mr.V.Venkata Seshaiya, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of respondent nos.1 to 4. Mr.M.Rajendiran, learned Additional Advocate General takes notice on behalf of the respondents nos.5 & 6. Since no adverse is being passed against the 7th respondent, notice to the 7th respondent is dispensed with.
In view of the consent expressed by the Learned counsel appearing for either side, this petition is taken up for final disposal.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that subject property devolved on the petitioner through his predecessors in title. The petitioner had applied for Electricity Service Connection before the respondents 1 to 4 however, based on the objections raised by the 7th respondent who is the wife of the petitioner's brother namely Jayaraman, the said application has been kept pending without any progress. Hence, the petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.
4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the respondents 1 to 4 to consider the petitioner's application dated 29.09.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.
5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned counsel appearing for respondents 1 to 4 and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for respondents 5 & 6.
6. In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 4th respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 29.09.2025 seeking
electricity service connection in respect of the subject property and pass appropriate orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties including the rival claimants, if any.
7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
