The Writ Petition has been filed to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 11.04.2016 to correct the date of birth of the petitioner as 01.06.1968 in the service register and other records of the third respondent Corporation based on the school certificate of the petitioner.

Heard the learned Counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the

respondents 1 and 2 and the learned counsel appearing for the third respondent.

3. According to the petitioner, she was selected and appointed as Sanitary worker in Vellore Municipal Corporation on 18.02.1986. It is the case of the petitioner that as per the school records, the date of birth of the petitioner is 01.06.1968, but, inadvertently, the same had been entered into the service records as 1956. The petitioner is an illiterate. It has been informed by the third respondent Corporation that her services were regularised only on 30.11.1999. Only then, the petitioner came to know about the wrong entry of birth year in the service records. In view of the error crept in the service records, the petitioner is loosing 12 years of service. In this regard, she had made a representation to the third respondent on 11.04.2016 to make necessary corrections in the service records. Since no action had been taken on the representation, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition.

Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for, without going into the merits of the matter, this Court directs the third respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 11.04.2016 and pass appropriate orders on the same, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.
