The present criminal original petition has been filed to direct the respondent police to register the First Information Report based on the petitioner's complaint dated 21.01.2016.

2. The petitioner is an advocate practising before this Court. The petitioner went for pongal holidays to his home town viz., Krishnagiri and on 18.01.2016, he went to Trichy to attend the case relating to the Workers of Cethar Ltd., in I.D.Nos.90 and 91 of 2013 before the Labour Court, Trichy. On 19.01.2016, he attended the case relating to the workers of Rane Engine Valves Ltd., in I.D.Nos.1 to 11 of 2014 before the Labour Court, Trichy. On 20.01.2016, he attended the case relating to the workers of Cethar Ltd., and TVS Ltd in I.D.Nos.30/2013, 44/2013, 82/2013, 21 to 48/2014 and 2 of 2013 before the Labour Court, Trichy. For the above said period, he stayed in Hotel Saratha at Trichy. On 20.01.2016, he left by Government Transport Bus at

10.00 p.m., and came to Koyambedu Bus Terminal, Chennai at about 6.00 a.m., on 21.01.2016 and took an auto from Koyambedu to Kodungaiyur. He got down in M.R. Nagar, SIDCO bus stand from the auto and on his way to residence by walking, at around 6.00 a.m., five persons surrounded him and attacked him with knife, thereby causing injury to him. Immediately, the petitioner went to the nearby hospital for the bleeding injury and he was given an anti-tetanus injection and as well as four stitches were made for the bleeding injury caused due to the knife and thereafter he went to the respondent police and gave a complaint at 6.45 p.m., The respondent police gave an acknowledgement for a petition under Petition No.60 of 2016. Though the said complaint was lodged on 21.01.2016, no action was taken on the complaint till date. Hence, the petitioner has come forward with the present criminal original petition.

When the matter was taken up for consideration, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the respondent police has registered the case in Crime No.89 of 2016 for the alleged offence under Sections 341, 324 and 506(ii) of IPC. Further the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that during the course of investigation, the investigation officer with the help of police artist would draw the sketch of the culprits on the basis of information given by the petitioner to find out the persons who are all involved in the occurrence.

4. In view of the submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, there is no need to give specific direction to the respondent police and recording the submissions of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the criminal original petition is closed.
