Mr.S.N.Parthasarathy, learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondent. By consent of the parties, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the respondent to dispose the appeal filed on 26.08.2017 as against the order of the Additional District Magistrate cum District Revenue Officer, Salem, dated 28.07.2017, rejecting the gun licence to the petitioner.

3. Heard both sides.

4. The grievance of the petitioner before this Court is that even though he filed the appeal on 26.08.2017, the respondent has not disposed the same so far.

5. This Court, at this stage, is not expressing any view on the merits of the appeal filed by the petitioner, as it is for https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

the respondent to consider and decide the same on merits and in accordance with law. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of, only by directing the respondent to dispose the appeal dated 26.08.2017 and pass orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law, after hearing the petitioner. Such exercise shall be done by the respondent within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
