JUDGMENT

This Criminal Appeal is filed challenging the Judgment dated 21.02.2022 passed in Special S.C.No.56 of 2020 on the file of the Sessions Judge, Fast Track Mahila Court, Krishnagiri. 1/4

The Trial Court convicted the appellant for the offences under Section 9(i)(m) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Section 506(ii) IPC and sentenced him to undergo five years rigorous imprisonment for each of the offences with fine of Rs.1,000/-, in default to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment. 3.

When the appeal was listed for hearing on 09.02.2026, the following order was passed :

"Learned counsel for the appellant submits that the appellant was convicted for offence under Section 9(i)(m) of POCSO Act, 2012 and under Section 506(ii) IPC and was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of five years. It is submitted that the appellant had already undergone four years of sentence and was also released on remission. Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) seeks accommodation to verify and report.

At request, list after two weeks".

Today, when the appeal is taken up for hearing, Mr.R.Kishore Kumar, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) and Mrs.R.Sasikala, WHC 1425, Barur Police Station, Krishnagiri, were present before this Court and, on instruction received from the jail authorities, submitted that the appellant had undergone the sentence and released from prison on 16.12.2025.

In view of the fact that the appellant had already undergone the sentence, nothing survives for further adjudication. Accordingly, this Criminal Appeal stands dismissed.

Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
